Living.
“Heidegger said: We need to be able to live in order to built!
Living your own body in order to listen the essence of it, its deep nature, to being able to hear every possible variation.
Living your own talent is the opportunity given to your life to sing its story, its uniqueness, and achieve is mission.
Living the culture is seeing the thick, transparent net of balances that generates the path.
Living yourself , the human being is poetically the textile of our life.”
in its original language
ABITARE …
Sofia is an Italian artist I had the pleasure to meet at the beginning of April when she came with her family to visit Maastricht, during the Affordable Art Fair. She was very impressed by the LAB project space where young artists from Maastricht were exhibited.
During our talk she was a bit worried about the future for artists in Italy. However, I could not really give her a solution, because, as far as I see, is the same a bit everywhere. Everyone in the creative field and especially artists need to be much more entrepreneur than before. Where the word ‘entrepreneur’ is not cover with pessimistic value but represents the push and courage creatives ‘should’ gain for putting ourselves ‘out there’ and fight for what we are and want. I know it’s not easy.
This is the feeling I can perceive in her works beyond the technique: the representation of the reality she lives. The choice of linking part of artworks by different material and techniques reminds me this emotion of ‘not knowing where to go anymore’ and sometimes ‘feeling lost’; I guess some of us know this feeling, don’t’ we? The rope sewing this ‘indecision’ represents the realization of Sofia and some others commitment to keep the doors open but at the same time doing what we want to be… in Sofia’s case an Artist.

Keep up the good work and share with us what you do! As I recently read in a post by Seth Godin, we should not question us, how do we live with fear, but How do we Dance with the fear… I am sure you can create a beautiful tango.
