Voluptuous.
“If I had to choose just one word it would be ‘voluptuous’. I’m cheating a little, because this adjective encompasses others words that I cherish as well… In my work I try to be as voluptuous as possible, and this means to me to both experience and convey a sense of joy and sensuality. There’s also a sense of generosity underlying the adjective ‘voluptuous’, I like that very much and it’s something I try to be through my drawing and upcoming fashion collection.”
Joyful and sensual, this the definition of voluptuous, which I I think are peculiarity that you can recognize in Juliette’s works, both in her fashion creation and illustrations.
I’ve met this Swiss designer with an international background on Somewhere. After having worked several years as research assistant developing new textile aesthetics, she decided to start up on her own business. Her new collection will be ready in September. I am looking forward to it, and see how she can materialized the style that characterizes her illustrations into tangible and wearable creations.
Juliette is the designer and funder of Gang of Freyja: A sparkling place in-between research, illustration and fashion where you can purchase her illustrations, upcoming fashion collection, and follow all her inspirations. With a background in textile design, she spent some years working as an apprentice sorcerer in the academic world, playing with the computer to create new textile aesthetics.
She decided some months ago to dedicate herself full time to the thing she loves the most: talking about femininity through her drawings and textile design. She loves mixing all these skills to create beautiful printed and embroidered pieces for women. It’s also surprising to discover her past and her previous more technological creation such as this.
