Modesty.
“In this time it is a word with a lot of meaning. I feel this word relates to this time we
now are confronted with. Something that is not intentionally chosen. But with it comes reflection and in it lies
so much beauty. Modesty is a challenge sometimes. But it is so important for it faces us with the earth
under our feet.”

I do think Ebby has her feet deeply rooted on the earth and a nice charm of modesty.
I had the pleasure to meet her at the “cultural entrepreneurs” meeting organized by the Municipality of Maastricht. Our funny and interesting conversation started with “ I don’t feel a cultural entrepreneur, so I don’t know the reason why I am here”. Maybe because the vision of the dance performance Skyn & M (Eat) was included?? Maybe because we were curious to discover who else is defined as “Cultural entrepreneur”…

Anyway, I discovered that Ebby is a fashion designer who studies everywhere she goes and works. Wisely she replied to my ‘question mark face’: “All the time even in the smallest things there is something that can open you up that you can learn and contribute.” She is a very passionate fashion designer.. ” For me it is a blend of so many disciplines. And also because it is one of the only things in which I feel totally in my element and which makes me happy.” What does ‘fashion designer’ mean to you? In a way it is like giving someone else a little home around their bodies in which they can be and feel themselves. Or the best they can be. It’s comforting to do, and a lot of hard work. I think I like the continues paste and movement, and the constant possibilities and exploration in shape or textile or finish.

Ebby is inspired by all day life : “By the fact that we feel free to move around in clothes and that you don’t have to worry about what you are wearing. In someway it is about accepting yourself.” Holy words from a fashion designer… Tomorrow (10 Oct) Ebby is going to launch her new Capsule Collection at FEE concept store in Sittard; if you are around don’t miss it! I personally love her ‘stuff’’.. mmh yes ‘stuff’ because my vocabulary and knowledge in the field of ‘Style’ stoops a ‘décolleté’ ! Thus, I asked at 100% Italian fashion blogger Lorenzo Bises to share his modest opinion and advice!
I really like it dear. A dress a bit shapeless, simple and elegant at the right point! I really like her style à la Garconne, that often matches perfectly with a pair of flat and classical shoes.
Give a twist at your style with Ebby Port! Modesty.
