Wonder.
“It is the best description of the thing that keeps me making art and pursuing unanswerable questions. It evokes magic, art, philosophy, science and nature and allows me to connect with a childish way of seeing the world.”
This mixture of curiosity, nature and mystery gives us the inspiration to go on! -I think. We should live a bit like Peter Pan and always be eager to discovery the world!
Carmel’s artworks mirror human emotions so exactly that its hardnot to feel emotional in response.
The delicate colours she uses recall the majestic Icelandic landscapes, where the white of the snow melts on the black lava. The intense blue of the sky merges with the azure of the see, the powerful green of the grass and the impressive red of the rocks… Iceland lives you breathless.
But what I love most is that the artworks give you space to wonder… come up with personal stories and create different interpretations.
I have met Carmel Seymour through her artworks after a tough day. I was looking for a picture showing how I was feeling and happily I found the exact representation in Feels Lichen Home.
The small details embedded in the carpet and the peaceful atmosphere I perceived attracted my eyes. Gazing at it had a sort of therapeutic effect on me.
Simple, intriguing and very expressive at the same time!
Carmel Seymour is an Australian artist. After a residency program inReykjavík where she encountered the indescribable landscapes and natural treasures of Iceland, she decided to stop there and create!
She initially studied to become a fashion designer and patternmaker. After some years of experience in that industry she felt that the atmosphere was simply ‘too cold’ for her… So she went back to school and started to be active in the ‘warmer’ fine-art scene!
In her artworks we can still note her passion and love for textile patterns and details…
It’s never to late to follow your heart and instinct!
Have a look and be up to date on her exhibitions in Iceland and Australia!Wonder.
