Why & Joy.
“The left brain side of me says the word is ‘why’ for it is the inquisitive exploration that drives so much of what has been meaningful in my life. The right side of my brain says the word is ‘joy’ for it is that feeling which fuels the desire to explore. My explorations bring me joy. And that joy spurs me to explore more deeply. Its a feedback loop.”
Exploring, challenging and sharing , these are the pivotal elements embedded in Andres Amador’s art. The most magic thing, however, is his canvas: the beach. Golden sand under his feet, that changes every time he goes out to make art. It acts as a special natural artistic support that allows Andres to be in contact, dialogue and response to the dynamics of the environment he is creating on.
“I love being able to create in such a wonderful environment. Despite being at the edge of a large city, simply being on the shore erases everything else around me.” ‘Panting’ daily on the seashore has its advantage: “ The Ocean prepares a fresh canvas daily, there is no mess to clean up, nothing to put away or store”
Although his visual expression seems very spontaneous, there is a precise study behind it, in particular related to tides, geometry and spatial awareness. Each visual expression he creates needs to be adapted to the format of the chosen ‘canvas’. “For the organic designs, the pattern is ‘grown’ using principles of growth. For them, perfection is a state of such complete integration that the entire artwork seems to ‘exist’ as its own entity”
Andres Amador is an earthscape artist that creates mural exploration with a rake as a brush. He is inviting us to enjoy the fragility and the instant of the special moment of creation that in minutes will be washed away. As from his art we shall do the same in our daily-life, enjoying the instants that make our days.
