Why did you choose to be or work in Zuid Limburg?
“Since my graduation at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Maastricht I have been involved in various international projects, therefore I didn’t spend much time in the region. But Maastricht has always felt like home every time I come back. For years Fashionclash was my first and only client but recently I started to work with local institutions like the ABKM, Marres and Bureau Europa. Since March 2014 I am a participant at the Jan van Eyck. I like to contribute more to the local cultural landscape, if the right context is given.”
Do you think Zuid-Limburg is a stimulating environment? Why?
“Stimulation is a decision you have to make yourself in the first place. If you allow Limburg to influence you, it will. Maybe South Limburg hasn’t the desired reputation yet but it definitely has the potential to be stimulating, because there are many good people here. A good start for self-awarness would be that companies and institutions source and work more with people that live in the region to start defining an identity.”
To be or not to be in Zuid-Limburg?
“You can be anywhere, what matters is what you do.”
