The evening lecture of Common Knowledge Edition #6 took place at Hoogfrankrijk 27. It was the perfect setting for the lecture by Nico Voskamp from voordekunst.nl. The subject of the evening was ‘Crowdfunding’, also as a new means of project financing. Interestingly, the choice of location for this evening illustrated all to well the importancw of alternative means of financing for projects.
The building at Hoogfrankrijk 27 used to accomodate ‘Het Huis van Bourgondië’, a former production house for theatre and performance in Maastricht. Young talented theatre makers made their first steps in their career under the supervision of a professional organisation. At this place they could also present their first productions to a bigger audience. They could develop, test themselves and their work, and find their way in the theatre world.
‘Het Huis van Bourgondie’ produced on average 10 own productions per year. These productions did not only take place in Maastricht, they also toured throughout the Netherlands and Belgium and performed sometimes at rather unconventional places.
Unfortunately ‘Het Huis van Bourgondië’ had to close its doors in 2012, after 23 years of existence, due to increasing budget cuts in the cultural sector.
It is a great place to be remembered and luckily the website of ‘Het Huis van Bourgondië’ still gives some interesting facts about the production house. Also, have a look at the archive where you can find all productions from the past: huisvanbourgondie.nl
