Have you already read our open call? Is there anything that you would like to ask us?
We have collected the questions which popped up in our live Q&A, read the answers below!
> How can I apply for a scholarship?
There are a limited number of scholarships available to applicants based in Munich.
However, if you need a hand to participate in the programme, fill in the online application form. You will find the question: ‘If you are from Munich, do you need a scholarship?’ Simply tick the box, according to whether you need a full or partial scholarship.
Successful applicants who are eligible for a scholarship will be evaluated according to their needs.
If you are not based in Germany, you may be able to apply for mobility funds! More info available here.
> Can I apply if I am only just starting a career in the Arts?
Yes! Selections are made based on your career stage and the decision of the jury is made to ensure participants can gain the most out of the programme. However, the programme is tailored and adapted to your needs.
It is perfect for soon-to-be or recent graduates, emerging artists or artists who are only just starting to a career, parent artists or other artists who have not been active or need to re-enter the art world again.
This also includes creatives who come to the arts from a different path – such as design, architecture, or other fields. No matter your background, your voice is valued!
> What is a sustainable artistic practice?
A sustainable artistic practice is one you can maintain in the long term, evaluating carefully which opportunity you should focus on (remember that being an artist is a profession, so you must know your rights).
Learning how to navigate the artworld(s), having a strong professional backbone of knowledge, skills and connections, and also learning how to build, and maintain, a supportive network, are the key. To create a sustainable practice you need to learn the best way to present yourself, how to strengthen your applications, where to turn for subsidies, but also how to make the most of different opportunities, exhibitions and artist residencies.
This doesn’t necessarily mean being able to live off art alone, but it does mean learning how to maximise your opportunities, how to create a sustainable workflow of projects, and how to include the topic of care (and self-care) in it.
Our programme, tailored on your needs, can help build a sustainable career in the arts.
