November, welcomed us with a new lighter-lockdown, but, as we always like to empower artists in seeing a brighter future, we dedicated this month to grants & subsidies applications. In this way, you will be able to gain the knowledge you need to develop your upcoming project!! 

If you are wondering, how do I develop a successful crowdfunding campaign? How do I write a grant application? What are the must know dynamics within your application? What kind of language is it expected? How do you create a solid backbone for your application to realise your project, art piece etc.? What policies are in place to support the development of your projects?

This series of workshops are developed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and connections you need to be able to apply and write effective and consistent grant applications.

The workshop is structured in 2 different events:

Crowdfunding 

Are you planning to start a crowdfunding campaign? Do you want to discover alternative ways of funding your project?  Make sure to join in. 

This workshop gives all the knowledge you need to acquire to initiate your Crowdfuning campaign (!!surely, knowing this beforehand, will save you quite some time!!). Being aware of what you need upfront, is what will make the difference! It will give you the opportunity to create a powerful and structured crowdfunding campaign. 

Alyssa Mahler from Voordekunst, the main crowdfunding platform in The Netherlands, will share with us how to do a great crowdfunding campaign, and all the insight you need to know to successfully develop your own.

You will also know more about the deal that the Province of Limburg has with Voordekunst. The Artist and the Others, will share with participants some insight, from their Sphinx Inside Out campaign and give you practical tips.

Learning from others, will save you time, and put the base for a successful crowdfunding campaign.

This workshop will provide you with the knowledge, skills and connections you need to be able to apply and create a realistic and successful crowdfunding campaign. It will give you an insight into the support you can receive from Voordekunst in creating your own campaign. At the same time, it will make you aware of the challenges and benefits that crowdfunding embeds.

HOW WILL YOU LEARN?

Through a mixture of a presentation, sharing of knowledge and interactive workshop. Alyssa Mahler from Voordekunst, the main crowdfunding platform in The Netherlands, will share with us how to develop a great crowdfunding campaign, and all the insight you need to know to successfully develop your own.

The Artist and the Others just successfully ended the crowdfunding campaign for “Sphinx Inside out book”, we will share our experience, meaningful insight and practical tips, which we wished to know beforehand. 


Thursday 26 th November, from 10:00 till 12:30

 

Thanks to the expertise of Mariana Sesma, you will learn the different grant application options, do & don’ts, how to lay out the groundwork to get started, reading between the lines of the open call; assessing if a grant fits your work and where you are in your career; identifying the keywords in a call and using it in your favour as well as speaking the language of grant organizations and respond to their audiences.

About the expert: 

Graduated in Visual Arts and holds an MBA in Cultural Management, Mariana has a vast knowledge of contemporary art and worked in important Brazilian art institutions, such as the São Paulo Biennial, in the fields of International relations and Fundraising, Exhibition organization and Art mediation.

Mariana has successfully raised funds with numerous international agencies such as the Mondriaan Fonds, Institut Français, British Council, Goethe Institut and IFA (Germany), AC/E (Spain), Canada Council of the Arts, Danish Arts Foundation, among others. Additionally, having overseen a long-established open call program for emerging artists in Paço das Artes, a Kunsthalle in Sao Paulo, she has gained robust experience on the other side of the bench. Thus drafting and adjusting the call, accompanying the selection process and following up with the grantee artists. Since moving to Germany, she has already scored funding with the local arts council for the projects she develops in Munich.
