A portfolio is a collection of your work, which shows how your skills and ideas have developed over a period of time. It demonstrates your creativity, personality, abilities and commitment, and helps us to evaluate your potential.
Easy, right? It is easier said than done.
- What are the specifics of a portfolio nowadays?
- Which format does a Portfolio have?
- Content, what kind of content and information should you include, and how can you adapt it for various audiences (think curator, gallery owner, on-line selling platform or magazine)?
- How should you approach the intended recipient?
- How should you deliver your portfolio to them?
- What are the big dos and don’ts?
- What should you focus on?
Our guest speakers offer you their answers to these questions. Plus, key lessons from their experiences of working with artists.
The workshop is divided in 2 events and tailored to provide artists all the must –know – knowledge about portfolio.
On the 15th of October, you have the chance to enjoy a panel discussion, in which professionals from the field with both national and international experience share their knowledge about Portfolios, tell you the do and don’ts, the different formats, their expectations and some insights from the contemporary art scene.
You will share and learn from international curator Claudia Contu (UK & IT) gallerists Simon David of Galleria Ramo (IT) & Marieke Severens – Pontarte (ES & NL) , and Jelmer Wijnstroom of Patty Morgan, the innovative, on-line only platform for contemporary art in The Netherlands.
!Put the knowledge gained immediately into practice!
On the 29th of October, you will have the opportunity to put all your new knowledge into practice and present your portfolio to them. Each of the participants will have 30 min portfolio review with the experts.

Jelmer Wijnstroom - Patty Morgan
Patty Morgan represents young promising artists as well as established artists who sell their work for an honest price. Good art challenges present day constructs and conventions. Our curators in the field are out to find artists that fit this profile. Patty Morgan is the first label for high-end contemporary art, promoting our artists and selling their work to consumers, businesses and organisations, both on- and offline.
Jelmer Wijnstroom is the curator of Patty Morgan’s offline exhibition space.
PontArte’s founder and owner Marieke Severens holds a Master’s degree in Arts and Culture Studies from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam (1995) and an MBA from EADA Business School in Barcelona (2003). She has worked in the Noordbrabants Museum in Den Bosch and in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam in the area of funding and sponsorship.
This career in the Museum world was later complemented by over 15 years of practical business experience. Marieke founded PontArte in 2013 out of a deep desire to combine her extensive accumulated business experience with the area of her true passion: the arts. Gallery PontArte represents a selective number of contemporary artists. They range from emerging talent to established artists, who each have their own distinct style and story.
