ARTIST IN RESIDENCIES WORKSHOP
In the current uncertain and challenging period, joining a residency program, could provide you some security with a stable financial income, but also a safe space where you could develop your practice, without worrying to pay the monthly bills.
However there are so many residencies program out there. How do you choose the best for you?
Benefit, in which way can your artistic career benefit from it? How can you maximise your experience?How can you write a great application? What are the specificity you must keep in mind?
Finance, how can you finance your staying and your travel costs?
This interactive workshop will give you all the knowledge and skills you need to choose, apply and successfully complete your next residency.
Moreover, you will also have a chance to get individual feedback on your specific proposal.
How will it work? On the 9th of April, during a 30 min individual session we will look at your application together and you will receive tailored feedback connected to the residency program you aim to apply at.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN DURING THIS INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP?
We will be tapping the following questions:
>What are the types of residencies that exist in Europe and beyond?
>How do I find and choose them? What should I look for as an artist?
>Funding Artists´Residencies : How do I finance my residency, travels and where can I look for extra support?
> What kind of documents do you need to have ready ?
> How do I make the most of it, and create your professional network by smart communication: the importance of a proactive attitude.
HOW WILL YOU LEARN?
Through a mix of presentation, sharing and exchanging of knowledge and hands-on activities tailored to the artists´needs with experienced professionals: Jessica Capra & Mariana Sesma.
As the outcome of the seminar you will be able to identify the residency that suits you the most, and gain awareness on all the complementary knowledge you need to have to successfully apply and make the most of it.

Recent graduated artists who aim to be prepared to gain professional knowledge about artists´ residency.
Artists who aim to develop themselves and their artistic careers, through artists residencies.

ABOUT THE EXPERTS:
Jessica Capra is a cultural manager with several years of experience working in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. She is the head of The Artist and The Others, Creative hub Euregio agent and co-curator of Marres Training the senses program. She has expertise in raising funds, coaching artists in their grants, artists residency applications and guides them through the development of their own professional career.
Mariana Sesma is a cultural manager who worked in important Brazilian art institutions, such as the São Paulo Biennial, in the fields of institutional and international relations, exhibition organization and art mediation. She has expertise in raising funds with international organizations, building and nurturing partnerships, overseeing open calls and residency programs.
