‘The Voice of the Daughter’ – Rusha’s solo exhibition

We are happy to invite you to the opening of “The Voice of the Daughter” by Rusha, Saturday 09.03 from 12:00 pm, at Super+Centercourt.
Showing her work for the first time in Germany, Brazilian artist Rusha portrays Black figures along with various symbols of Afro-Brazilian culture presenting us with a celebration of their roots, traditions and narratives.
The artist pays a homage for the ancestral knowledge of the elderly. At the same time, she also depicts black children as a seeds of hope, in a clear movement towards the future and the possibilities of dreaming it in other ways.
Through her works, Rusha creates other visual narratives, beyond those stereotyped by structural racism. They deconstruct and reconstruct the collective imagery of Black representation in the arts.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rusha is a black Brazilian visual artist, art educator, cultural producer, activist in the black movement, and advocate for land and territory rights. Researcher of ethnic-racial relations, visual culture, and decoloniality. Her artistic research explores issues surrounding ancestry, memory, identity, spirituality, resistance, and black symbology.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
The exhibition is curated by Mariana Sesma with the support of Jessica Capra – The Artist and The Others, and Super+Centercourt.
This exhibition is part of the ‘Welcome to Munich’ exhibitions series. A project which introduces new talented female artists to Munich’s art scene. This project is a collaboration by The Artist and the Others & Super+Centercourt Gallery
