Day of the Young Artist
September 16 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Day of the Young Artist: a day dedicated to young talent
Once a year, Kunstpodium T in collaboration with De Pont museum in Tilburg presents the Day of the Young Artist. This day offers an interdisciplinary program in which the dialogue between new artists, art academies and the professional art world are central. What is the artists’ identity, what is his position within the art world and society?
The Day of the Young Artist returns in 2019 and will take place on Monday 16 September in Museum de Pont.
For this edition, curator Tim Roerig will give shape to the program of this day.
Tim Roerig is Associate Curator at Z33, House for Contemporary Art in Hasselt (BE). In the past he worked for the Haus der Kunst in Munich (DE) and the 56th Venice Biennial. Besides this, Tim is involved with bologna.cc, an art initiative in Amsterdam that focuses on starting artists.
On this day, we are presenting not just three, as in the previous editions, but four different program parts at Museum de Pont, that can be visited in three different rounds. More information about these parts, as well as the speakers, will follow very soon!
- Circuits: sharp discussions about different aspects of the artistic practise guided by a moderator;
- 1ON1: one on one conversations with different art platforms and professionals;
- DOTYA x Currents: several workshops in collaboration with Z33 and Marres;
- Lezingen: in the museum cafe we will organise different lectures and extra workshops, in collaboration with The Artist and the Others and different organisations .
The program in full details, as well as the speakers and organisations that will join us on this day, can all be found here!
We’re happy to be part of it, with a meaningful conversation on ” Portfolio for visual artists, dialogue, analysis and critique” sharing the knowledge of internationals curators, Barbara Cueto, Hélèn Webers, Melanie Deboutte, and the contemporary platform, Patty Morgan.
What are the specifics of a portfolio nowadays?
What format does a Portfolio have?
What kind of content and information should you include, and how can you adapt it for various audiences (think curator, gallery owner, on-line selling platform or magazine)?
How should you approach the intended recipient?
How should you deliver your portfolio to them?
What are the big dos and don’ts?
What should you focus on?
Our guest speakers offer you their answers to these questions and some key lessons from their experiences of working with young artists.
The discussion event will take place from 14:00 till 15:30 at the museum cafè.
