Discover what inspires and drives artists, collectors and gallerists between Thursday April 3 and Sunday April 6. The Artist and The Others set up a mix of interviews, meetings, guided tours and film screenings for all art lovers, (young) collectors and artists during the Affordable Art Fair Maastricht. Join and share your thoughts with us on the art world. Participating in the lectures and documentaries are free of charge with a valid ticket of the Affordable Art Fair.

Architect Mathieu Bruls matches architecture with a high passion for arts and artists. During the interview he shares his interest for arts, his way of buying it, his choices and how he collects relationships beyond the artworks. The conversation starts with his latest acquisition, a work by artist and friend Han Rameckers. Rameckers shares the positivism acquired from this relationship and talks about the role of the artist within art fairs.

13:00 A talk with Steve Scheirsen & Charlotte Lagro (English)
Steve Scheirsen founded KunstAffair to promote freshly-graduated, promising artists. He acts as a transparent intermediary to the benefit of both the artist and the client. He will share his perspective on the role of contemporary artists. Artist Charlotte Lagro is selected by Steve Scheirsen to exhibit at the Project Lab Space during the Affordable Art Fair. Charlotte share with us her perspective on the art fair.
The discussion will start by reflecting upon a quote by American painter Chuck Close “I think that, for an artist to go to an art fair, it’s like taking a cow on a guided tour of a slaughterhouse”.
16:00 Meet the photographers: Edgar Verhoeven & Daan Zuijderwijk (Dutch)
Visual artists Edgar Verhoeven and Daan Zuijderwijk focus on the medium of photography. Through their observation of nature and the landscape they go on a journey of discovery and “balance the line between what is the possible and what is impossible.”
17:00 Meet the collector: Jeu van Sint Fiet (Dutch) General practitioner Jeu van Sint Fiet is collector and owner of The Underground Gallery. He combined his passion for art to his main job as a general practitioner. His practice for instance is designed by Atelier van Lieshout. In this public interview Van Sint Fiet shares how he started to collect art and how his passion grew and developed.
