Common Knowledge collaborates with Bureau Europa. For the edition 9 we have invited Jeroen Laven of Stipo, for a lecture on urban development, social-spatial strategy and how creative are the driving force behind the new economy.
Maastricht is in transition, due to current economic conditions, development in our cities has become a visual standstill. In addition, current social trends, and the willingness of the City of Maastricht to create an Hub, give creatives the frontline to make the difference in the economy.
Starting at 7.30 pm, Jeroen Laven shares with us the approach* developed by public developers Stipo, which focuses on the ‘how’ of urban development with enduring quality.
After a dialogue moderated by Saskia Van Stein (artistic director of Bureau Europa), will give everyone the opportunity to share their point of view on the ‘creative hub’ concept, the position of the creative within the city, and how they can be the driving force behind the new economy.
In the audience will be present representatives of Maastricht Municipality, MaastrichtLab, Caracola and of course YOU!
*The ‘Stipo approach’ was developed in the urban planning department of the University of Amsterdam. Initially, the approach was used mainly for solving problems regarding spatial planning. But the approach now has a much wider range of application. The distinctive feature of the approach is the combination of the emphasis on solutions and practicality.
