In May 2023, The Artist and the Others participated in the third meeting for the CHLaYdoscope Project, which took place in Koper – Slovenia, along with representatives from Warehouse Hub, Generazione Lucana, DYPALL Network (Developing Youth Participation at a Local Level Network), Matera Hub, and the ECHN (European Creative Hubs Network).
Together, we worked on the creation of the Youth Leadership Academy, part of the CHLaYdoscope Project. The Youth Leadership Academy will take place in Portugal, from the 22nd to the 27th of October 2023. It is open to three Youth Leaders, from the Netherlands, who will test the tools that the programme provides to equip possible youth community leaders with the specific knowledge and skills they need.
The appointment in Koper was an opportunity to share and gain knowledge, strengthen cooperation and discover the local association PiNA, which organised a series of meetings with local artists and creatives. Ana and Valentina, from PiNA, welcomed us and showed us the interesting projects initiated by the association. They have a fantastic Lab, where they develop researches on materials and sounds. We were able to evaluate the sound pollution which exists in the sea, and find out about the artistic project they developed with the Aquarium and the University of Piran.
Meet: PiNA
PiNA is an association, established in 1998, by the Open Society Institute, which has been promoting socially responsible practices and strengthening dialogue for over 20 years.
Since its establishment, PiNA has served as a meeting point providing information, opportunities for exchange, connections and collaborations to face societal challenges. In 1998, PiNA was the first internet café in Slovenia, and by 2016, it had operated as a multimedia and youth centre, became a member of Slovenia’s Europe District information centres, and a hub for NGOs operating in the Coastal-Karst Region. From 2022, PiNA became a contact point for the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme, and works in the field of culture, youth and international cooperation & development.
