Breaking Boundaries: Artists & curator Talks – Karsi Sanat

In this talk, curators Ezgi Bakçay, Jelmer Wijnstroom, and artists,  Sevim Sancaktar, Suzie van Staaveren and Jan Dirk Adams, share insight about the meaning behind their art, the beautiful stories of shipping and bringing the  artworks to Turkey and how everything got together.

here some extracts:

“Exhibition making has its own politics and follows specific criteria.
It always has a special meaning that can tear down your expectations. It is fragile but meaningful at the same time.
However, because different curators are involved in this project, we have the possibility of discussing how negations take place between curators and artists, questioning these delicate processes which are involved in exhibition making.”
“The Breaking Boundaries Exhibition shows how we can feel alive and react to what happened last year.
It shows how we can create a supportive community, even with restrictions, taking space and time for ourselves.
It presents a solution for the issues that Society faces today.”
“It is a collaboration where we do not have total control of the exhibition and how our artworks will be displayed, because we are not always physically present. This is challenging but by being open to what will happen, allows you to have different perspectives and generate new ideas.”
The journey has only just began!
