Artists Summer School: reforming the art world

The Artists Summer School is a project organized by The Artist and the Others in collaboration with Kunstpodium T.

For one week, recent graduate artists will come together to acquire professional skills and develop connections considered fundamental to start a career in the artistic and cultural sector.

“The Summer School focuses on new ways of learning for young artists who want to obtain valuable practical skills that their academic studies do not offer”

By closely working and dialoguing with young, emerging artists, The Artist and The Others is fully aware of the fact that starting a professional artistic career might be very challenging. Esspecially when entering the competitive art world without any network or advice from professionals in the field.

In order to fill this gap in the art education curriculum and to help graduates to tackle the so called “Black hole” after graduation, The Artist and the Others, in cooperation with its partners, has created this tailored-on-your-needs- Artists Summer School.

During an intensive week (Monday 24th – Friday 28th of August 2020) 10 artists from Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium acquired the knowledge, skills and connections needed to start developing a remarkable career.
Thanks to professional workshops, practical discussions, visits to cultural institutions and meetings with art experts.

The summer school is initiated by The Artist and the Others and Kunstpodium T, and realised thanks to the financial support of Maastricht Municipality and the Province of Brabant.
