Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Eloy Kruijntjens, I am 33 years old, father of 1,5 year old daughter Yara. I studied graphic design in Eindhoven. I am currently running a small graphic design studio based in Maastricht: Studio Picnic; a studio specialised in visual identity, print design and works for both cultural and commercial clients.
What would you consider your distinctive achievement?
To be where I am. Finding a job was not easy. I encountered many ups and downs, but I still do what I love. That’s very important for me.
What are the qualities needed to be an entrepreneur?
To be an entrepreneur, you need to hang on what you do, don’t give up easily, move on, fail once in a while, think about what you do over and over again and be persistent.
What are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to meet more interesting people to work with, being inspired by new cooperations, not only inside the closed environment Maastricht offers. I wish that should be more open and fresh.
Which advice would you give to the other professionals?
Do what you love and like it, as I said be persistent and enjoy every moment of it.
What are the challenges that we need to overcome to make ‘cultural entrepreneurship’ more accessible?
In general to be open for people, because this could develop into fruitful cooperation that make ideas become possible. In my opinion, we also need, less bureaucracy in Maastricht. Promote more ‘fresh’ ideas or projects without putting a label on it. I hope this will be a chance, we should look at things with positivism.
